The Brazilians were drawn against Leones Vegaterianos of Equatorial Guinea, while The Buccaneers have been pitted against Light Stars from Seychelles.

Leones Vegaterianos

Little-known Leones Vegaterianos are playing CAF club football for just the second time in their history.

They featured in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup, but after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline against Nigerian side Dolphins, were knocked out on penalties in the first round.

After winning their domestic top-flight league in 2017, the club – which was only founded 18 years ago – made their CAF Champions League debut earlier this year against Kenya’s Gor Mahia, but again exited in the first round after a 3-1 aggregate defeat.

After successfully defending their league title this year, Leones Vegaterianos will host Sundowns at their 15 000-seater Estadio de Malabo on Wednesday afternoon at 16h00 South African time, with the return leg taking place in Pretoria next week.
