Hoffenheim 1-3 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich got the new year off to a positive start after defeating Hoffenheim 3-1 at the PreZero Arena.

After a quiet opening to the first half, Germany international Leon Goretzka netted a quick-fire brace in the final 10 minutes of the stanza to put Bayern 2-0 up.

Nico Schulz gave Hoffenheim hope when he reduced the deficit ten minutes into the second half with his first goal of the campaign.

However, Robert Lewandowski killed off any hopes of a Hoffenheim comeback when he converted a cross from Thomas Muller with three minutes remaining.

The win sees Bayern move to within three points of leaders Borussia Dortmund, while Hoffenheim remain in seventh.
