Benson waiting on Sporting boss

Benson Mhlongo says he is waiting for TS Sporting chairman S’lungu Thobela to clarify his situation at the club.

On Monday the National First Division side announced that assistant coach Mfanimbela Maseko will take Mhlongo’s place on the bench on an interim basis as the latter has been absent since November 13.

Mhlongo appeared to be irked by the club’s decision to recently hire Sammy Troughton ostensibly as a technical director, although he has insisted he is okay with working under the former University of Pretoria mentor.

“He [Thobela] is the one in charge, he is supposed to clarify everything,” Mhlongo tells KickOff.com.

“I don’t have powers andlula wakhe. I’m waiting for him to give me a final say on what is it that he decides to do. Ja, he must decide, mina I can’t decide for him. I’m waiting for him to finish with my manager.

“I will hear from them. I didn’t ask for help and I don’t think that there is a problem so far at the club, so they have to explain to me. But having a technical director is no problem, he is above me. He will be above me, I don’t have a problem with that. To be informed. I knew ukuthi kune technical director, there were other things that I was not informed [about], so I needed clarity of that, ja that’s all.

“That’s why I’m saying I’m giving them a chance to clarify everything. You must give a person a chance. The person who started the whole mess must answer [them]self, hence I’m saying I’m giving them a chance to clarify.”

According to a source close to the former Orlando Pirates assistant coach, his business manager will be meeting with Thobela this week to discuss the way forward.
