Bucs yet to designate Maahier's post

Orlando Pirates have not only roped in Fadlu Davids as a first-team assistant coach but so too his younger brother Maahier, though his role is not yet defined.

Pirates earlier this week announced the appointment of Davids, a month after he was shown the door at relegation-threatened Maritzburg United, where he achieved unparalleled success for the club.

Though the club did not make any official pronouncements on his former assistant and younger brother, it has been widely speculated that Maahier would be taking up a role in the Bucs’ development structures.

However, both Davids brothers were present at The Buccaneers’ final training session at the match venue ahead of their CAF Champions League Group B clash with Horoya on Thursday afternoon.

Asked for clarity on Maahier’s deployment, Pirates administrative officer Floyd Mbele explained that a definitive position is still being sussed out but alluded that he would be involved in both the first team and youth structures in the interim.

“The team is still going to determine what his actual role is. Obviously, you do see that there are a number of competitions and projects that the club is involved in,” Mbele explains to KickOff.com.

“There’s the Multichoice Diski team and other projects that are there, but I think his position will be clearly defined as we go along.”
