Ndlovu scored 19 goals in 24 games for Greentown, who finished 12 points behind second-tier champions Wuhan Zall in third place on the standings.

The 28-year-old’s individual efforts earned him a recall to the national side.

“My season is over man. My season is over,” said Ndlovu, who replaced Lebo Mothiba midway through Bafana’s 1-1 draw with Paraguay in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.

“I don’t have any ambitions anymore. I’ve accomplished [things] early this year in China. In 30 games I only played 24 matches and I scored 19 goals, and that for me is a good achievement.

“I hoped and wished I could have helped the team to be promoted into the Super League, but we really disappointed ourselves in our last game. We lost 2-1 and we couldn’t go to the Super League.

“What’s next for me now is to go on holiday with my family.” Ndlovu quietly left the country in 2015 after things didn’t work out for him at Mpumalanga Black Aces and SuperSport United to join Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta.

He was an instant hit at the club and scored 17 goals in 32 appearances to catch the eye of Azerbaijan side Qarabag. When he went there, Ndlovu didn’t stop scoring and in his two seasons at the club he won the league title and cup, and helped them reach the UEFA Champions League group stages for the first time in their history. Ndlovu then moved to China after being offered a lucrative deal.
