'Kane the best goalscorer in the world'

England captain Harry Kane has been lauded as the best goalscorer in world football after his late winner sent his side into the inaugural UEFA Nations League semi-finals and relegated Croatia.

Kane, 25, has emerged as England’s attacking talisman since making his international debut in 2015 after bursting onto the scene with Tottenham.

With 150 goals in 229 games for Spurs, the powerful centre-forward’s record in the Premier League has silenced even his harshest detractors, despite his recent eight-game goal drought on the international stage.

However, after scoring an 85th-minute winner over the 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists to secure a dramatic comeback victory, his manager Gareth Southgate lauded him as the world’s best finisher.

“He’s the best goal-scorer in the world. You’re always loathe to take a player off of his ability,” he said after the game, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He’s our main penalty-taker, leader and his hold-up play is critical. We have huge belief in him and he is so hungry to lead the team further.”
