Light Stars target draw against Pirates

Light Stars coach Ted Esther has provided some insight into his squad of players and considers a draw against Orlando Pirates this evening a huge result for them before their home leg.

Pirates will host the Seychelles outfit at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening as they mark their return to the CAF Champions League for the first time since 2013.

The visitors have a slight advantage in as far as their squad make-up is concerned, with very little details readily available about their players as well as their style of play.

However, Esther, who took over the reins only nine months ago and already guided the team to their maiden Champions League campaign by winning the Seychelles League Cup earlier this year, has kindly provided some background on their club’s setup.

“Most of my players come from an island, it’s the second biggest island in the country, so almost all my players are working and then come to training before 5pm – it’s not like a professional club,” said Esther.

“We also have four foreigners [all from Madagascar] and they train in the morning with me, and then again in the afternoon [with the rest of the team].

“But football is football, we are prepared very well for this match, especially our organisation, so we are ready to give a good match.”
