Lorch happy to play the big games

Orlando Pirates top goal scorer Thembinkosi Lorch says he enjoys big games like the Soweto Derby and hopefully their work with the finishing coach throughout the week will pay off.

We’re just hours away from kick-off of one of the biggest fixtures on the PSL calendar, as Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership clash at 15h30.

The Buccaneers boast a major psychological edge having won this particular fixture on the last three occasions but will be wary of their poor conversion statistics of late.

Milutin Sredojevic’s charges have managed just five goals in their last five matches across all competitions, which have included two goalless draws against continental opponents.

As such, Lorch is well aware of the importance of finding the back of the net against Amakhosi and reveals that this week’s preparations have entailed plenty of work with finishing coach Stephane Adam.

“We need to convert as many chances as we can get on Saturday. Especially this week we had been working on finishing with coach Stephane Adam,” Lorch tells KickOff.com.

“But we are ready for the Derby. It’s a big game that everyone wants to play in. At the end of the day, we’re playing for three points, which is what’s most important.

“So, we just have to apply ourselves and follow the instructions of the coaches, which will be to play our normal attacking game.”
