Orlando Pirates forward Thembinkosi Lorch reveals the Buccaneers were concerned by their previous form ahead of the encounter with AmaZulu.

Lorch played a starring role as the Soweto giants romped to a 4-1 victory over Usuthu in the Absa Premiership on Saturday evening.

Pirates headed into Saturday’s clash on a six-game winless run, with the last encounter ending in a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United.

“I think we played well. We showed character. From 1-0 down, we came back stronger. We scored three goals in the first half,” Lorch told SuperSport TV.

“In the second half, the coach told us we must not be too happy because the game is still on. We have to push and try to score another goal.

“We were concerned because in our previous game we lost against SuperSport [United] so we had to come back stronger and make our supporters happy and our families. It was important to win this game.”

The bustling forward revealed some tactical moves they made to get the upper hand on Usuthu.

“The coach told us to leave their centre-backs to play because they are not comfortable on the ball. If you can see the second goal it was a pressing trap on Gumede. I put the pressure on Gumede, then we got a goal,” he added.
