Maradona: Mou without doubt the best

Argentina legend Diego Maradona says he’d like to visit Manchester United in order to learn from manager Jose Mourinho, whom he describes as ‘the best manager in the world’ ahead of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Maradona, 58, has admitted he’d like to manage in LaLiga one day but concedes he may need to develop a better understanding of the tactical side of the game in order to succeed in Spain.

In an interview with Spanish publication Marca, the Argentina legend, who’s currently in charge of Mexican outfit Dorados, revealed his desire to learn from ‘the best’ before he takes on the challenge – after being questioned about the Real Madrid hot seat.

“Yes [I would like to coach in Spain] but it needs to be a long-term project and not if it is a case of bringing in a coach for the sake of it,” Maradona said.

“Also it is healthy to have a break after winning all the time [in reference to Real Madrid].

“Myself as a coach I need to learn a lot and for that reason I think I will go to Manchester and Mourinho to ask him a lot of things.”

“Because he is the best without doubt,” the 1986 World Cup winner claimed bluntly when asked why he specified the United boss as a reference point.

“For me yes, Mou is the best. I would give Pep the merit of taking advantage of the launch that Johan Cruyff gave him.

“I have said on more than one occasion that tiki-taka was not invented by Guardiola.
