MDS: Bucs see off Highlands

Kaizer Chiefs’ MultiChoice Diski Shield defence is in jeopardy after being hammered by Bidvest Wits while Orlando Pirates took a giant step towards qualifying for the second round with victory over Highlands Park.

Kaizer Chiefs 3-5 Bidvest Wits

Kaizer Chiefs’ chances of defending their MultiChoice Diski Shield crown took a severe knock after being hammered 5-3 by Bidvest Wits in Group A on Sunday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.

A hat-trick from Sizwe Twala for Amakhosi was not enough to avoid defeat as the Clever Boys ran rampant to register their first victory in the tournament.
Chiefs dropped to third on the mini-log with three points, equal on points with second placed Wits who have a slightly better goal difference.

Only top teams in the group go through to the next round.

Orlando Pirates 2-1 Highlands Park

Katlego Ramonyai scored a late penalty for Orlando Pirates as they defeated Highlands Park 2-1 in Group A on Sunday afternoon at Orlando Stadium.

Welcome Masemola broke the deadlock for the Lions of the North early in the second stanza but Sifiso Luthuli levelled matters for Bucs in the 73rd minute. Ramonyai netted the winner for Pirates three minutes before time from the penalty spot.
