Micho offers apology to Bucs faithful

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has attempted to reason with the club’s supporters over his promise to “heal” and “feed” their souls.

While Pirates remain in a promising position in the Absa Premiership title race – one point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, Sredojevic has thus far abstained from discussing their chances of ending their nearly seven-year wait for the coveted domestic championship.

The Serbian, who arrived at the start of last season on a “soul healing” mission following The Buccaneers’ worst season in the PSL era, at during the course of this season has promised “soul feeding”.

However, in refusing to place pressure on the team, ‘Micho’ has since offered an apology to the fans over the intricate nature of trying to achieve tangible success immediately after last season’s improvement.

“As we mentioned last year, we’ve healed the souls of our supporters. The biggest happiness for us is that two years ago the team accumulated 33 points all season, now we have – with eight games still to play – 39 points, which is something we’re happy with,” said Sredojevic.

“Regarding feeding their souls, we need to apologise to our supporters, we cannot serve all the food at once. We are looking towards every match to be a good portion of feeding their souls.

“I hope they’re seeing on the faces and body language of the players that they are giving everything for the badge and jersey, and this is our ultimate target.

“We know that once our players are giving everything, our supporters will be happy with the effort we’re putting in and, once we put the effort and get the support from our supporters, we know our quality will rise and that investment of effort will pay us back.
