Nyobo death: 'This was an assassination'

Tornado FC general manager Luyolo Sili has eased fears about the future of the club and says they will carry on the dream of slain owner Siphiwo ‘Mawawa’ Nyobo by reaching the ABC Motsepe League playoffs.

Nyobo, a traditional healer and prominent businessman, was gunned down on Saturday at North End Stadium.

“Currently there’s still no arrest to say who did this you know, it’s still dark to us,” Sili tells KickOff.com.

“We don’t know what’s going on, which side is this thing coming from. All I know is he left his wife and kids in a state, he left the whole of East London and Eastern Cape messed up.

Abantwana abathwasiswa nguye [trainee sangomas] they are also in tatters, ja it’s just a big mess man, whoever did this is very heartless.

“The way forward is for us to continue with the league and win the league and proceed to the playoffs as he would have wanted. He would always tell you the show must go on.”
