Tau shone in Bafana’s 1-1 draw with Nigeria in an African Nations Cup qualifier at FNB Stadium on Saturday, earning praise from Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and former Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo among others.

Asked what stands out about South African football ahead of tonight’s Nelson Mandela Challenge clash between his side and Bafana, Osorio pointed to the talents of the former Mamelodi Sundowns man.

“The left-footed player, number 19, who plays on the right side,” Osorio told KickOff.com in referring to Tau, who joined English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion in August and is currently on loan at Belgian second-tier side Saint Gilloise.

“He can play in behind the striker, he can play wide and come inside. He’s very smart, very clever with the passes and he can also show his ability to play one-v-one. So in that respect, it’s going to be tough.”

Osorio and his men arrived in the country in Thursday and Friday, and have been training at Clermont’s Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

This will be the former Mexico coach’s first game in charge of Albirroja following his appointment in September on a deal, which runs until the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
