Maritzburg are currently rooted to the bottom of the table and are three points shy of moving into the play-off spot, and one further from safety.

Amakhosi, meanwhile, have a battle on their hands as they retain slim hopes of challenging for the Absa Premiership title, while they are also far from guaranteed a place in the top eight at this stage.

Parker, having done their match analysis ahead of tonight’s encounter, is expecting a tough fight but is confident they can exploit the gaps in Eric Tinkler’s approach.

“We’ve seen what Maritzburg has done, they’re fighting for their lives and I’m sure they’re going to come with a lot of energy because they need the points as much as we do,” said Parker.

“We’ve profiled them, and we know that they add numbers in their attack, desperate to get the result, of course, and it’s just for us to exploit their spaces. If we can do that then the game will go positively for us.”
