SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala is on his way out of the team after he and Matsatsantsa failed to agree on a new contract.
Phala, whose contract with United is set to expire in June next year, has fallen out of favour with coach Kaitano Tembo and looks set to leave the side at the end of the season, though a move during the January transfer window cannot be ruled out.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns player watched Matsatsantsa’s final game of the year against Highlands Park in Tembisa from the stands, fueling speculation that he could make a move when the new year comes.
According to a source close Phala, the player might ask to be released when the window opens in a few days from now.
“Thuso is leaving Supersport,” said the source.
“He has made his decision and is expected to announce signing a pre-contract with a new club in January,” he added.
Matsatsantsa, meanwhile, are yet to announce if they will be renewing the contract of experienced midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane. Yeye’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
