As Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter prepares to announce his squad to face Libya, Steven Pienaar has reminded the national team that qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is solely in their hands.
Bafana are due to take on Libya in their final Group E qualifier, with the war-torn nation set to host the encounter at the Stade Taieb Mhiri Sfax in neighbouring Tunisia on March 24.
Baxter will name his squad at SAFA House in Johannesburg this morning, with in-form players such as Themba Zwane, Lebohang Maboe, Thembinkosi Lorch and Kermit Eramus are expected to be part of the side.
A draw for Bafana would be enough to see them qualifying for the competition that will be staged in Egypt, but Pienaar says they should not go there with the mentality of playing for a point.
“We’ve got it in our own hands. We have to go there and win the game. We have to go there with the mentally of winning, not just going there for a point. I want to wish the team all the best and [they must] make sure that they qualify,” Pienaar tells KickOff.com.
