While still languishing down in 13th position after eight matches, The Buccaneers managed just one win in their opening six fixtures under coach Mandla Qhogi.

Qhogi initially took over upon the departure of Benson Mhlongo from the club in July, after rising up the junior ranks over the years.

However, it has become apparent that the budding tactician’s progress had halted as he struggled to get the team going, with defeats to AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Bloemfontein Celtic and Baroka in their opening five games.

Loftman initially stood in for Qhogi when Bucs visited log leaders Cape Town City and managed a draw a fortnight ago, and continued with a 1-0 victory over Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs this past weekend – all this while continuing his support role to the first team.
