Rama: We'll try and go all the way

Despite their contrasting form on the domestic front, Chiefs are approaching their continental challenge with some optimism.

Having already missed out on the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout, Amakhosi have only three more competitions to contest this season as they look to end their three-season trophy drought.

Giovanni Solinas has come under fire for his side’s inconsistencies, but has welcomed the challenge of competing in the Confed Cup.

Mphahlele is also confident of the depth within their squad as well as the quality they boast, to be able to put up a stern fight against some of the biggest clubs in Africa.

“We know CAF is not an easy stage to play on, but we want to give it a try and do well in this competition. I think we have a chance; we have a big squad and a very good team to compete,” said ‘Rama’.

“As Kaizer Chiefs we haven’t played in CAF in the past few seasons, but we’re embarking on this journey as a team and we’re very excited and all looking forward to competing in Africa.

“So, it’s exciting times for us because it’s a different ball game as a whole – the football in Africa is different, as well as the logistics and travelling, which we need to try and manage and be strong.”
