Real superstar was set to join Utd – Moyes

David Moyes, who lasted 10 months at Manchester United upon personally being tasked to replace Sir Alex Ferguson after his iconic 26-year reign, has made a shock revelation over a transfer that was agreed before his eventual sacking.

Moyes, 55, spent over a decade at Everton before Ferguson selected his compatriot to succeed him at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, his spell ended in as the third shortest stint in the club’s history as they languished 13 points off fourth-placed Arsenal – just a year after winning the title.

And within his tenure, he was widely criticised for his transfer failures as Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata were the only notable additions to the ageing squad.

However, Moyes has since revealed the Germany superstar Toni Kroos agreed to join him in the Premier League – but he was unable to complete the deal.

“It is true,” he told TalkSPORT host Alan Brazil. “Toni Kroos had agreed to come to Manchester United with me.

“I met him and his wife and we had agreed it all when he was at Bayern. But I was only going to get it done before the end of the season, before he joined Real Madrid.”

The Germany midfielder has since amassed four Champions League trophies as well as the FIFA World Cup with Germany.

However, United are currently enduring a barren spell which started as soon as Moyes succeeded the legendary Ferguson.
