Seriba: I feel sorry for Notoane

FK Metta wing-back Kabelo Seriba says he feels sorry for South Africa U-23 head coach David Notoane.

Seriba, 21, is currently within his third season in the Virsliga since leaving SuperSport United in 2016.

The powerful wing-back has been one of the standout performers for his side in the Latvian top-flight where he’s established himself as a first-team regular.

And with that, Seriba has been one of several players that has flourished within the junior national team ranks, having a prominent role from U-17 all the way up to the U-23 set-up under new head coach Notoane.

As one of the players currently based in Europe, the promising defender tells KickOff that the development structures of the national team has created a promising squad that could go on to achieve success in the near future.

“Everything is working well for us right now and the national teams,” Seriba said in reference to their impressive 6-1 win over Angola.

“Several of us have played either with or against each other at club level for such a long time so we know each other well and understand the way each of the players thinks on the field.

“I think this gives our current core group of youth a greater advantage to succeed in professional football and eventually in the senior team.
