Serie A: Roma end 2018 with road win

AS Roma ended their final game of the year on a winning note against Parma, with Inter and AC Milan doing likewise at Empoli and SPAL respectively in Serie A.

Following a dramatic midweek victory over Napoli, Inter Milan returned to duty to make it two out of two in a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Empoli at the Stadio Castellani.

After a goalless first half, Luciano Spalletti rung the changes on the return with Lautaro Martinez and Radja Nainggolan introduced in attack.

It proved a master-stroke as it fired up the opener which came through the boot of Keita Balde inside the final quarter.

The Nerazzurri go into the New Year in third-place, abreast with the pace-setters- Juventus and second-place Napoli.

The goals came through Bryan Cristante and Cengiz Under in either half, giving Eusebio De Francesco a peaceful end to year.
