Solinas points out FIFA break benefits

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has provided insight into what was worked on at Naturena during the recent international break and is happy with what he has seen ahead of the Soweto Derby.

The recent international break came at an opportune time for some clubs who have enjoyed some inconsistencies of late.

Chiefs, for one, have not had the best runs in recent weeks, winning just two of their last seven matches in all competition, but have at least managed to get through to the Telkom Knockout semi-finals.

They next face a stern test against a well-oiled Orlando Pirates outfit, and Solinas has used the break to tweak and rectify ahead of the high-stakes battle at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (15h00).

“During the international break, when you coach a very big club like Kaizer Chiefs that has a lot of international players, you need to manage this,” explained Solinas.

“In this break, we tried to improve our system of play and tried to rectify our mistakes. Thereafter, we quickly had to integrate the international players upon their returns and discuss the next game.

“So, for example, [on Thursday] we started our preparation for the Derby and practiced the situations where we think we can [capitalise].
