On Thursday Cosmos were drawn to meet Bakgaga in the lucrative competition, which features clubs from the National First Division, Absa Premiership and SAFA amateur ranks.

Asked for his thoughts on the fixture that will take place in Polokwane in the new year, Sono made it clear his main focus is on doing well in the league.

“No, it’s a fair draw, it could have been worse,” Sono tells KickOff.com.

“It could have been … I could have pulled Pirates. I could have pulled Sundowns. I could have pulled Chiefs and … It could have been worse, it could have been worse.

“But it’s going to be very difficult, I mean they are the champions. We play the champions, ja. They are the giant-killers, they are the champions, so our chances are very slim.

“Ja, but we want to focus mainly on the league. Ja, maybe I will use fringe players.”
