After winning the competition in 2016, Sundowns have been knocked out in the quarterfinals and the group stages, falling short of their success two years ago.

Coach Pitso Mosimane had his heart set on getting a second star on top of the Sundowns badge and will have his fingers crossed that his new players will help inspire the club to success on the continent again.

Sundowns are set to be without some players who could leave the club in January, players such as George Lebese and Lucky Mohomi.
