United to double Rashford wages?

Manchester United could double the wages of striker Marcus Rashford with a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs.

Rashford, 21, is widely regarded as the finest attacking prospect to emerge from United’s academy over the last decade since bursting onto the scene as an 18-year-old during Louis van Gaal’s tenure as head coach.

Since his first-team debut amidst an injury crisis back in February 2016, the explosive forward has amassed 149 games for the club, scoring 40 goals and registering 23 assists.

Under the tutelage of former manager Jose Mourinho, his rapid development appeared to have been stifled with his consistency often coming under question but since the arrival of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 31-time capped England star has been revitalised with four goals and one assist in his last five league outings.

Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus have all been credited with an interest in his services over the past six months, according to reports in English media.
